moving vm from workstation to fusion13

Hello.

I want to move virtual machine form workstation to fusion 13.

So I modified file extension to vmwarevm.

However, I encountered the following error.

This virtual machine cannot be powered on because it requires the X86 machine architecture, which is incompatible with this Arm machine architecture host.

The operating system on which the VMware Fusion 13 is installed is m1 MacBook(Silicon Mac).

How do I get the VMware Fusion 13 to work?

Are workstation and fusion compatible only on Intel Mac?

Correct. It can not operate with Fusion running on an M1/M2 Mac. The M1/M2 Macs do not have an Intel compatible CPU. It can operate with Fusion on an Intel Mac.

And before you ask, Rosetta 2 will not let that virtual machine run. Apple specifically notes that Rosetta can not be used for virtualizing x86/x64 operating systems.

Fusion 13 *is* working, and will virtualize any OS that is built for ARM architecture (with some caveats).  It will *not* however, be able to run any OS that is built for Intel-compatible x86/x86-64 architecture.
