I've been using Parallels, and have just downloaded Fusion in the hopes that I can run Windows without having to endure such a heavy performance hit.
I'm wondering if there is some preferred step-by-step recipe out there for making this switch?
I'd appreciate any and all suggestions and advice.
I'm not sure you'll see much of a perfomance gain by using Fusion, the technology is essentially quite similar to Parallels. But YMMV of course.
If you have a Windows machine set up in Parallels that you'd like to move across to VMware, see the instructions at http://www.vmware.com/community/thread.jspa?messageID=704404

I think you will be pleased with the results, and you'll also find Fusion far more stable.
There are step by step instructions here:

Thanks for the instructions, they worked fine.
I did end up seeing a substantial peformance gain by using Fusion, and am happy I gave it a try.
Thanks for pointing me to the instructions for moving directly from Parallels to Fusion. They worked like a charm, and I'm very happy with the switch.
