linux self-assigned address

Suddenly my debian guest os cannot connect to internet. The network connection gives a messages saying : "Wired network connection with a self-assigned address.".

Every time I try to reestablish the connection (either bridge or nat), in /var/log/messages will have a messages saying:

message_handler: message handler not found under /com/redhat/dhcp/eth0 for sub-path eth0.dbus.get.reason

Unrequested down ?:2

I tried reboot both the debian and the Mac, I also tried to reinstall vmware-tool, non of this works.

Anyone is having the same problem or familiar with it?

My system: os x 10.5.8; vmware 2.0.5

Ritchie
