hot add/swap in fusion 12.1 pro

hello all

I am using a virtual machine running Windows Server 2008 r2 x64 on Fusion 12.1 pro

i can not add a hard drive when the machine is running.

i know for fact that it is possible in the operating system itself .

and i was able to do it on Vmware Workstation 9.0 .

that leads me to a conclusion that the problem is somewhere in the settings of Fusion 12.1

anybody has come across the same thing and was able to solve it ?

thanks in advance

Amit

That'd be a good feature request for a future version.

@scott28tt

thanks ..

so that feature is implemented in Workstation but not in Fusion ?

isn't that a little weird ?

Nope, they're two different products.  A ford F150 truck has different features from the F250.

VMware made it look as if those are parallel products made for different OS's ..

at least that's the impression i got .

is there a comprehensive list of all the differences between the two products somewhere ?

i couldn't find one .

thanks.

They're working towards a common core, but each one has different nuances.  For example, Fusion can virtualize MacOS, but Workstation can't.
