Awhile ago I downloaded a free gamer version of VMware for my new iMac, for health reasons I am struggling to get things going.
The iMac is 12.4, I was going to use VMware to run WinXP, and since that is 32 it won't work.
I tried to delete it from the iMac and re-install VMware and the new Win7 but XP keeps popping up when I open
VMware.
My brain is getting fried.... if someone can help me, I would really appreciate it. thank you Carol
Seeing as you have a Mac and mention a version of MacOS, it sounds like when you say "VMware" you actually mean "VMware Fusion", on that basis I have reported your thread to moderators asking them to move it to the area for Fusion.
thank you for your help
Even though current versions of macOS no longer support 32-bit Mac applications, Fusion itself is a 64-bit application. The virtual machines that run under Fusion can be 32 or 64-bit. An existing Windows XP 32-bit VM should work just fine. As will 32 and 64-bit versions of Windows 7.
If you say that XP is "popping up" when you launch Fusion, it's likely that you have the XP virtual machine configured to auto-start on Fusion launch. Open the XP virtual machine's properties, select "General" and see if the "Start automatically when VMware Fusion launches" checkbox has been checked. If you don't want that VM to start up automatically any more, uncheck that box. You can then delete the VM if you wish and install a new Windows 7 VM.
You did not say what version of Fusion you're trying to use on macOS 12.x. You should use Fusion 12.2.x. Fusion 11 and earlier versions will not work. Fortunately Fusion 12 Player is available for free with a no-cost personal use license.
I don't remember any "free gamer version" of Vmware Fusion being offered by VMware. Do you know what version of Fusion that was?
