can't force quit on a MB Pro (OS 10.5.1)

I have an emergency situation. My Fusion 1.1 and Windows XP have frozen my Mac and I have very important unsaved changes in another (Mac) program. The standard MB Keyboard command is not working and I hope that there is another way to force Fusion to quit short of shutting down the computer. Fortunately II have access to this other computer so that I could post this message.

Help!

Well, I had to shut down and lose my work. This must have been a hard crash of OS 10.5.1. This is the second time that this has ever happened to me. Both times were in Fusion. Any advice?

Are you using Time Machine or have any disk images open at the time? Is Fusion set to favor OS X application performance or guest disk performance under Preferences?

Although TM is turned on, the TM b/u drive was not attached to the MB. Also there were no disk images open when the hard crash occurred (why, is that a problem??). Fusion is set to optimize the VM disc performance.

Also, a little issue. Why does my pointer jump to the upper left corner of my screen whenever I first start up and make the first click in my VM? Not a big problem, but annoying...

There are some bugs in the way OS X handles sparse disks/FileVault/Time Machine backups/if Fusion is set for OS X application performance under heavy disk load that can cause deadlocks and the need for a hard reset. However, it doesn't sound like this is the case for you. I don't have further ideas right now.

Also, no idea about why the mouse starts in the upper left.
