XP VM Hangs in "Windows is Shutting Down" Screen

I am having a problem where my Windows XP VM decides to shut down when it is sitting idle. It then hangs at the normal "windows is shutting down" screen, unresponsive. I was able to get it to shut down once by force quitting fusion and then using the menu->shut down command. The second time this happened (this time) I have not been able to get it to shut down. What might be going on here? Why might it shutdown without being given orders to?

It seems like there should be a way to pull the plug, I just can't find it. I've tried closing processes from the Activity Monitor, but none seem to kill the VM.

Here are some specs:

Physical Machine:

Macbook (5,1) Standard purchased in March 2009

Intel Core 2 Duo 2GHz, 2GB memory (all the rest doesn't seem relevant here)

Runnign Mac OSX 10.5

Virtual Machine:

1 Virtual Processor, 1 GB Ram

Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3
