Windows XP SP2
VMware Fusion Version 2.0 (116369)
OS X 10.5.6
Macbook Aluminum 13.3"
I am try to get sound input working in XP via my Mac's built-in mic.
When I run XP's sound test wizard (within Control Panel), Fusion gives me a message "Sound will be disconnected" and the sole prompt choice of "OK".
Of course, the sound test fails. I can shut down XP, reconnect the sound card in Fusion, restart XP, and rerun the sound wizard, but the same message and failure is repeated.
Please advise.
Thanks.
Matt
Have you installed VMware tools?
Thank you for your prompt response.
First, I want to say that I have resolved the problem. I had put the tag "sound" on my post, then decided to follow it after I posted. I was able to deduce from a few other posts I had not previously discovered what the solution, although the the orginal cause, was.
The solution is as follows.
I said I had "shut down XP, reconnect the sound card in Fusion, restart XP, and rerun the sound wizard, but the same message and failure is repeated."
The successful sequence turned out to be "shut down XP, reconnect the sound card in Fusion, quit and restart Fusion, restart XP, and rerun the sound wizard."
To answer your question, I have not installed VMware tools. How would that have helped?
Again, thanks!
Matt
