Windows 8 or 10 and Skype for Business

Hi,

Im running Fusion 8 Pro with Windows 10 x64 and we run Skype for Business for telephony. Skype for Business works fine for IM and Presence but as soon as a call comes in and I try and answer on a headset (doesn't matter which brand, I have tried several) Skype for Business crashes. I then have to reboot the VM to get Skype working again.

This isn't happening on a non VM machine and it also doesn't happen if I run Lync 2011 for Mac.

It happened with previous versions of Fusion plus previous versions of Lync.

It appears that the headset is the issue. If I answer a call using the inbuilt mic and speakers on my Mac, Skype runs fine. If it matters, I have tried:

Plantronics Calisto P240

Pantronics Blackwire

Jabra Evolve 40 Mono

Jabra Evolve 40 Stereo

Jabra Go 6400BS

Jabra Pro 9450

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Just found a way around this,, Go in to the VM settings > USB&Bluetooth > Advanced USB Options > Change USB Compatibility from 3.0 to 2.0

After this my USB headset 'magically' works as expected.

Further to my last, the only way that I stop the crash is if I go to my Virtual Machine Settings, then sound card, then choose my headset as the Output and Input device.

The problem with doing this is that my PC Speakers no longer work as all sound is entering the headset; therefore if Skype rings and I don't have my headset on, I miss the call as the enable second ring option in Skype is now blanked out due to it not seeing my existing speakers due to me forcing the headset as the output / input device.

I have noticed exactly the same issue. Fusion 8 with Windows 10 and I can't use my Logitec B530 USB Headset.

Our VOIP application (SwyxIT) and Lync for business are hanging when trying to use them.

I can't even get a test sound from the Sound properties panel...

This makes Fusion completely useless for me, luckily it was a trial. I was ready to switch from Parallels...

Routing all the audio to the headset by selecting the headset in the sound card settings works, but this is a work around.

I need to have the ringtones on the normal speakers. So the USB headset needs to be a separate device.

I totally agree. It is a workaround with making the headset the sound card. Hopefully VMWare looks at these threads and comes up with a solution ASAP*

*Unless of course, somebody knows a fix that both of us haven't worked out.
