Windows 8 Boot Camp activation problems

When I run my Windows 8 BC partition as a virtual machine, Windows is no longer activated and I cannot activate. Every time I activate, I get "thanks, you're all done", but the activation status hasn't changed. I even run slmgr.vbs /upk to uninstall my product key and input it again, but activation status has not changed. Office is fine.

And the other thing is whenever I switch between booting natively and a VM, my Metro apps stop working until I repair them from the Windows Store.

Could you specify which version/build of Fusion and Windows you are running?

Windows needs to be activated twice - in Boot Camp mode (physical hardware) and as a VM (virtual hardware). However, the activation on virtual hardware needs to be done after VMware Tools is installed, and the VM restarts at least once. VMware Tools manages the activation data and swaps between the physical or virtual mode depending on whether Boot Camp is running natively or in a VM. Does Windows report that it's activated when running natively in Boot Camp instead of a VM?

For the Metro apps issue - does it happen with all apps, or some specific ones?

This happens under Fusion 5 and 6.

I understand Windows needs to be activated twice, but when I shut down the VM, then boot natively, Windows is no longer activated, and sometimes Office 2013 isn't activated either. Then I activate them and repair the Metro apps (more on that in a minute). Some time in the future, I'll be in OS X and launch the Boot Camp virtual machine, and the Metro apps need repair and Windows is complaining it's not activated. Every. Time.

For the Metro apps, it's all non-Microsoft ones, so ones that need to check in to the store as to whether or not I own those apps. The virtual machine is counted a separate computer in my list of PCs in the Store app actually.

Hello,

Same problem here, were you able to find a way to resolve this?

Thanks

Since upgrading to 8.1, I don't have activation issues anymore, but my non-Microsoft Metro apps do not run while Windows is running as a virtual machine.

Thanks, same exact situation here now that I'm also on 8.1.  Please post if you find a solution.

6.0.2 resolved the activation issue for me.  Also fixed folder sharing which broke when I upgraded Window from 8.0 to 8.1.

Well, thought it was resolved, but now I got the non-MS apps needing repair again.

Same problem, windows is now not activated and I can't get it active on either side. This means I can't allow the unsigned drivers I _really_ need.

Please provide a solution VMware
