Windows 7 Pro missing network devices/Ethernet Controllers

My freshly installed Windows 7 Pro 64bit can't detect any network devices.

I'm using VMware Fusion 4.4.1 on a Macbook Pro running OS 10.7.3.

The Vmware tools are installed.

Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Devices and Printers/MyComputer/Hardware shows me that two Ethernet Controllers are missing.

I've read about the .vmx file in the forum, but that goes back to Fusion version 3 and there is no "ethernet0.virtualDev" entry in the file now.

Any advice on how to proceed from here?

I just gave it a try and inserted the following line in my vmx file:

ethernet0.virtualDev = "vmxnet3"

…and suddenly it works.
