Hello,
I just installed Big Sur after installing the new VMWare Fusion 12 for personal use. Before upgrading to Big Sur, my Windows 10 Virtual machine had internet access while on our Cisco Anyconnect VPN, but after updating to Big Sur, I only get internet on the Windows 10 machine when the VPN is disconnected. I have tried the Autodetect option, the WiFi option, removing and readding the NIC from the VM as well as from the Network adapter settings, all with no luck. Any ideas what I need to do to get this working? Thanks,
Duane
So a few things - AnyConnect is notorious for tardy support of new MacOS versions, so make sure you're using a supported release.
And unfortunately that by itself may not fix it. This is a common challenge, and can be the result of a couple of things (including an intentional configuration by the anyconnect administrators). The best suggestion is to make sure you're using NAT and not bridged networking. Otherwise, you'll need to connect to the VPN inside the guest as well as on the host.
I have tried both Bridged and NAT plus I have updated to the most recent version of the Cisco VPN. Any idea what settings I should ask our network team to check? We have several MAC users at our company and I am likely not to be the only one who experiences this issue. Thanks again.
The most recent version may not actually have Big Sur support, so that's worth checking.
I'm afraid I'm not an anyconnect admin - just relating what mine that the time told me (it's been a while).
One thing you could try is to completely uninstall anyconnect (with their uninstaller), reboot, and then reinstall. It may just be something that munged in the config.
I have the same error
I am thinking of completely rebuilding my machine from the current beta to see if it happens on a fresh, not upgraded, install and see what happens. I just installed a new public beta today and it has the same issue.
My experience with AnyConnect v4.9.04043-- they fixed with Mac OS 11 and 11.2 my split tunnel profile works fine on the Mac side.
When I use NAT (the default in VMware -- i run v12), my network breaks completely. If I select bridged, then I can DHCP another IP address and that works, but it doesn't go out as my AnyConnect IP address which breaks IP restricted resources.
So the later Cisco AnyConnect client does work with Mac, but VMware Fusion 12 still needs an update to permit NAT to work. Also for sake of argument I re-installed a fresh windows 10 environment and tested again, same failure mode. One gets the NAT IP address but it doesn't route anywhere. In my case, but split tunnel profile and full-tunnel profile fail the same way. I also read in a forum to try hard code DNS server which I did, to no avail. This was all broken with 11, but continues to fail on 11.2.
So bridge mode, autodetect, even though AnyConnect work, but NAT fails.
