Windows 10 USB drive (EFI) install troubleshooting

I am using Fusion 8.1 & OSX 10.11.2 El Capitan and have followed instructions in KB2128765 to install Windows 10 off a USB drive.

I have edited the .vmx file outlined in Step 11 by adding: firmware = "efi" in the first line of the file

That was unsuccessful

Proceeded to Step 16 and added: efi.legacyBoot.enabled = "TRUE" as the second line to the .vmx file

That was also unsuccessful.

Should the edits be added to the first & second lines respectively of the .vmx file or the last lines?

If Step 11 is unsuccessful should firmware = "efi" be deleted before including Step 16 to the first or last lines of the .vmx file?
