Window 11 Pro ARM - VMware Tools Not Installing

Pretty simple question.  Do we have any reason why the VMware Tools will not install or will not complete installing?

the session is just sitting them and if I drop down the Virtual Machine tab, all it says is "Cancel VMware Tools Installation", but it is greyed out.

Did you follow the instructions in the unofficial guide (posted in the documents section)?

If not, start over and follow those.  It's the best way to do the install (the official guide is out of date).

p.s. in there you'll see that there aren't real tools yet.

I am still newbie - where is the documents section?

And according you there are no tools yet so don't worry about it.

The unofficial guide is towards the top of list of articles.

If you created the VM using the original guide, it's probably using the converted insider VHDX file.  That will expire.  Building a new one using the unofficial guide will save you a ton of time later building a new one and redoing all your work inside it.

It'll also help you get the network and display drivers installed.

We do expect a tech preview with full tools.  Based on past years, best guess is sometime in July or August.

Both the Fusion official documentation and the unofficial guide tell you that the tools that are provided for Windows 11 ARM must be installed through a command prompt. They don’t install with an auto-started GUI application like they do on Intel Windows. On Windows 11 ARM, all the “install VMware tools” menu does is mount the installer to the VM  You must then follow the instructions to access Powershell and then install the tools with the documented commands.

The documentation also tells you that the only “tools” presently available are 2D video and network drivers. There are workarounds for many of the missing features not provided by the tools in the unofficial guide. As @ColoradoMarmot notes, we expect more complete tools support in the not too distant future.

You will need the video and network drivers provided by the current “tools”. Install them.
