What's deploymentPlatform = "windows" for?

Why is this option set even when I create non-Windows VMs? I don't see it in any of the .vmx files on my VMware Server, but Fusion appears to insert it by default. Are there any implications to removing that line?

This must be new to this build of Fusion. I don't have this line in my .VMX files. I doubt it has a major affect on anything. Try taking it out.

Sounds like setting coming from our ACE product. It probably has no impact on Fusion. I believe you can just remove that line if it bothers you.

I am curious to know what this setting does: deploymentPlatform = "windows". I find it in my Windows Server, XP, Vista VMs and also in my Linux VMs .vmx config files. I am running these VMs on ESX 3.5.
