Hi,
I am new here, I have a question about vmware fusion 4.
I have a macbook pro running Windows 7 Home 64 bit in bootcamp, then I have my Mac OSX Lion partition as well.
I do not want to reboot all the time, and so am trying Vmware Fusion 4.
I need to know what the 'import' feature does.
Currently I can run the VM in Lion by loading up the Bootcamp partition. I assume whenever I reboot in windows (bootcamp) all my changes will be there and I can work on windows in either VM in Lion or directly by booting up bootcamp.
Problem is it is very slow, I am playing with the settings, but I want to be able to suspend and start the VM as well.
---
---> If I import the bootcamp partition, then work in the VM and make changes to files/settings/etc. and then later reboot directly into bootcamp, will my changes be there, or will they then only be limited to the VM image in Lion?

Thank you!
Suspending the Boot Camp partition being run as a Virtual Machine is not permitted however if you do use the Import command it will be a file base Virtual Machine that is separate and apart from the Boot Camp partition and can be suspended or have snapshots. Anything done in the imported Boot Camp partition Virtual Machine will not be reflected in the Physical Boot Camp partition. Additionally if you import it you cannot also continue to use the Physical Boot Camp partition or the Boot Camp partition being run as a Virtual Machine unless you acquire a new/separate license for the imported Boot Camp partition Virtual Machine.
Also to answer one of your other questions, yes when you make changes to the Boot Camp partition being run as a Virtual Machine, as in files you created or software you installed, they will be there when you natively boot Windows from the Boot Camp partition. A word of cautions though, while VMware Fusion is supposed to handle WPA and OPA for Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office as you switch between the native Boot Camp and running the Boot Camp partition as a Virtual Machine nonetheless you may run into Software Product Activation Issues with other Manufactures like Adobe as an example because VMware does not handle the changing hardware footprint and related hash algorithms employed to thwart software piracy in cases other then WPA and OPA.
Hey, thank you for the reply. Exactly what I needed to know.
I'll look up about the licensing issues.
Thanks again!
