Visual Studio Unity Border

I'm a bit baffled.  I'm running Visual Studio 2012 in vmware 5 on Windows 8.  I get this translucent border around the window (every window, should I separate any of the docked windows).  If I look carefully, I can see the Recycle Bin from the Windows 8 desktop in the upper left corner of the border (in the attached picture, you can see the R in Recycle Bin on the upper left border).  On the attached screen shot, the dark border on the outside is my Mac desktop, the white border is the offending artifact.

All other applications run fine in unity...no borders.

Does this happen to everyone?  Can anyone please tell me how to get rid of it?  It is driving me mad.

Many thanks!

Hate to resurrect a thread from over a year ago but I find myself in the same situation.  Other apps such as Lync 2013 and Outlook 2013 don't have this border but Visual Studio 2012 does.  Moving the VS window around will expose bits of the Win8 desktop, particularly icons, in the border.
