Virtual Printer

In Linux, with VMWare Tools installed, I noticed a Virtual Printer in printer list. I guess it is a way to redirect the printing to a mac os x connected printer, without the direct-usb connection.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work for Fusion (no preference to map it to a mac os x spool).

Will it work? Or maybe it's just a "Workstation" legacy? Smiley Happy

When I installed Fusion and XP Pro on my MBPro Santa Rosa C2D 2.2 GHz, I had to add a port in Windows and include the TCP/IP address of the printer (HP LaserJet 4000n). This printer is connected via ethernet directly to a Linksys WiFi router. Fusion detects the WiFi and picks up the printer fine. I don't know if this will work with Linux, but I suspect the concept may be similar.

Good luck.

Correct. The virtual printer is installed with VMware Tools for compatiblity with Workstation (actually the ACE edition of Workstation is the only one with support the virtual printer at this time). It doesn't work in Fusion.

This'd be a fabulous feature, and might allow us to access the PDF-creation stuff built into the OS.
