Virtual Machine not recognizing hard disk or SATA CD/DVD drive, won't install system or boot

I have an .iso for school, and when I had to upgrade to  Fusion 12.1.2 because of Big Sur 11.4, building this virtual machine doesn't work. I've navigated a myriad of issues, and now when I build the machine from the iso it boots into bios because it won't boot from the CD/DVD drive which is enabled.

 

Thoughts?

If things are configured correctly, the time I’ve seen this with other products is when the ISO isn’t bootable.
