VPN Connection Problems (Mac OS 10.4.10) with Windows RRAS

I'm unable to use the windows VPN client via Fusion to connect to our corporate RAS 2003 Server, and even the Mac VPN Client fails to connect. The windows client (XP Pro) connects and passes the password verification phase but then times out. I'm using Fusion in NAT mode.

I've searched the forum, but haven't landed anything that resolves this issue.

Thanks,

nj

How is your MAC Connected to the internet ?

if you're using a router check it has PPTP / IPSEC pass-through features needed to support vpn connections

Did you tried in bridged mode instead of NAT ?

If you're using Wifi, be sure to install the airport update release at the end of July.

It will prevent your mac to be disconnected from the network.

(not exactly related to this topic but it might help you Smiley Wink )

I'm connecting using a Cable Modem that goes out to Comcast, DHCP based. The Internal network at home has an Airport Express that works just fine when I use my Windows machine to VPN out (exact same settings) to the same corporate VPN server.

Tried with bridge mode as well...same issue...

I suppose you can browse the internet from your xp guest ?

can you have a look at the RRAS server for any event logged when you try to connect ?

Does your vpn uses PPTP or L2TP IPSEC ?

Yes, browsing is without any problems.

PPTP is the connection method and I'm trying to get my IT guy to look at the settings/logs for me, but he's as smart as a door knob! Smiley Happy
