VMware fusion reboot problem

Vmware gets stuck on reboot!

after rebooting it gets stuck on this:

try changing to '1 virtual processor' under settings. This cured my xp restart hang at bios.

This is correct. To explain a little bit more, you have a uniprocessor HAL but are running with multiple virtual processors. Windows boots, thinks it should only have one processor (thanks to the uniprocessor HAL), and turns off the other cores (don't worry, this doesn't affect the Mac, it's only in the virtual machine). When you try to reboot the virtual machine, we wait for all the processors to respond, but since they're disabled, they never do. The solution is to not use a mismatched HAL and virtual hardware.
