VMware Fusion Pro 12.2 Issues With Monterey

I just upgraded my MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019), 2.4 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9, running 64GB of Memory to macOS Monterey Version 12.0.1 today, the 29th of October 2021.

I'm running VMware Fusion Professional 12.2.0.

My Windows 10 VM has unexpectedly shutdown two times, and I've had to restart.  Both times it crashed when I tried to join a Teams meeting on the Windows 10 VM.  I clicked join, and bam, the VM went down with the message "VMware has encountered an error and has shut down Windows."

But so weird because the first meeting I joined it's all good.  Ended the meeting.  Then later when I go to join the another meeting the shutdown occurs.  I've tried a few more times, and I can duplicate the problem on demand.   I've allowed the Mac to collect the data, and request support from VMware, so hopefully that all ends up with a VMware technical team who can look at the data.

Have downloaded and install fusion 12.2.0 after installing Mac OS Monterey. Windows 10 will not work. similar issues.  I continually get the message "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable." Windows 10 worked before Monterery. I have worked with this for hours and am ready to switch to Parallels after using Fusion for years. In the past, it was easy to talk to someone and get help. Now I can't even find a phone number. I know we individual users are not that profitable but we still deserve support.

I ended up buying a per incident support contract to get support, for $49.00 USD.

I have no problem running Monterey 12.0.1 on fusion 12.2.0, also the osx beta 12 was not a problem!

First step: Download *.dmg from apple

Second step: Convert *.dmg to *.iso

Third step: Install the iso file

Hardware: Imac Pro 2017 with osx Monterey 12.0.1

On Fusion 12.2.0 runs Windows 7 32bit, Windows 10 64 bit, Windows 11, Suse Linux Desktop/Enterprise, OSX 12.0.1

i have a many fun and can work correctly with all virtual stations!

Zeromiler, Did they get your existing Teams to work on your VM without crashing?

VMware support is still working on it.  We had a Zoom call today, and found that I needed to reinstall VMware tools, but after doing that the issue remained unresolved.

Support is looking through the last set of crash logs from our Zoom session.

Thank you zeromiler.   I will keep you updated if I find a solution.  There is some other experience I would like to discuss and share with you since you have a similar setup to mine if that is okay with you?

As soon as VMware support figures out a solution, I'll post it.

did you get this resolved?   I have been using Parallels in the interim and it works really well for local VMs.   I am still trying to figure out how to connect to my ESXI VMs.

OK folks here's what I found out after working with VMware support on several calls, and lots of debugging.

We could duplicate the issue on demand, but unable to determine the root cause, but we do have a workaround.

1.  On the MAC, set the input and output sound settings to the Jabra Engage 75 headset.

2. Power down the Windows 10 VM.

3. On the VM, set the Sound Card settings for both the Output, and Input Device to "System Default"

With the above configuration, I can make MS teams without issues.

When I want to use the external Jabra 710 Speaker for MAC audio, I need to go to the MAC Sound settings, and change the Output/Input settings to point to the Jabra 710 External Speaker.  If I plan to use MS Teams on the VM again, I need to change the MAC sound settings back to the Jabra Engage 75 headset.

VMware support says that hopefully sometime in the future this issue will get fixed, but it's not a high priority because I'm the only person who has reported it.  I did remind VMware support that this is probably because the overwhelming majority of VMware Fusion users do not have a paid support contract, and of those that do, there are probably very few who have this specific combination of gear.
