VMware Fusion Player – Personal Use License

I cannot register for the VMware Fusion Player – Personal Use License. I have been trying for over 2 hours and I always reach the same point and nothing happens.
When I get to this page https://customerconnect.vmware.com/evalcenter?p=fusion-player-personal I press register and fill in my details, it is asking for my company details although I am a student. I filled in my university's details and try to proceed. This is where the loop ends and either nothing happens or I get stuck on a perpetual loading screen until the web page eventually expires

It’s strange that it is demanding a company name.

Try first signing up for a VMware account ( not using an “incognito” or “private” browser session) through this link:

https://customerconnect.vmware.com/account-registration

It will ask if you are an individual or from an organization. Answer you are an individual (it won’t ask for company info). 

If that’s successful, retry the sign up for the personal use license through the link you tried before. You would log in using the account credentials you just created.
