Hello,
I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 with VMware Fusion 5.0.1 from OS X 10.8.1 on MacBook Pro with Retina display. All fresh. I'm stuck resoluting following issues:
1. While in fullscreen mode (Windows 7) I cannot use F3 & F4 keys to run Mission Control and Launchpad. F1, F2, F4-F12 work as they should (control iTunes, brightness, etc.). I've tried enabling and disabling Mac Host Shortcuts with no luck (inside Fusion Preferences).
2. While working in Windows 7 I cannot use Ctrl+Primary mouse button to select multiple contents inside Explorer. I always get a drop-down menu as if I click with secondary button. I'm using Magic Mouse and everything else works fine (like swiping between fullscreen Fusion window and any other desktop/fullscreen application of OS X). This is really uncomfortable. I've tried enabling and disabling Secondary Button under Mouse Shortcuts of Fusion Preferences. No luck.
3. Any chance you could add a ⌘+Space keyboard shortcut to change input language in Windows 7? I'm talking about an option that's installed with VMware Tools. That would be really handy. Or probably a feature to enable Ctrl+Shift or Alt+Shift keyboard layout shortcut for OS X? The idea is to unify input language changing in OS X and Windows.
4. Any chance you could certify display adapter driver with Autodesk? I feel like AutoCAD 2013 (in Windows 7) could fun faster and smoother. I've maxed-up Fusion settings (4GB RAM and 4 processor cores) for virtual machine and did some optimizations within AutoCAD itself (enabled more agressive adaptive degradation inside Performance Tuner (3DCONFIG command)). But performance isn't significantly better than with my old MBP (15-inch, Mid 2009 model). I believe unauthorized graphics card drivers cause issues with running AutoCAD 2013.
5. I'm a VMware Fusion user since like version 3.0. As long as I can remember running Windows in windowed mode get you similar thing in version 3, 4 and 5. When you start guest OS in windowed mode the window begins jumping all over the screen and changing it's size while guest OS boots up. I know you can just keep guest OS on a separate Desktop (of Mission Control) and always fullscreen. But well that small issue with booting up in windowed mode just... You know it just wipes away the all-polished and quality feel of VMware Fusion!
6. When VMware Fusion will support Retina inside guest OS X?
Well after further investigation I've figured out fixes for some of the issues mentioned in first post.
1. Magic Mouse gestsures still work in fullscreen Windows 7. So I've setup mouse to show Mission Control with double-tap of two fingers. However still no way to call up Launchpad while in Windows 7 (fullscreen or windowed).
2. Eventually it fixed itself on it's own. Probably it should've taken some time and some restarts (or "hard" shut downs) to get it working right. Today "Ctrl+Primary mouse button" works as it should when selecting multiple items in Explorer.
3. I've found a most recent release of Punto Switcher (1.2.1) has a feature to assign any keyboard shortcut to input language switching in OS X. I've set it to use Ctrl+Shift for switching keyboard layout. So far it works alright with OS X 10.8.1. Just had to tweak menubar icon so it isn't blurry on Retina display.
Issues 4, 5, 6 still to be answered.
You're starving the host with the 4-core setting on an rMBP (virtual cores don't count), so that may be some of your issue.
