VMware Fusion 5.0.5 and OS X Mavericks - Pipedream?

Hi All,

I just updated Fusion to 5.0.5 (from 5.0.4) with the hope that I could get my VMs working in OS X Yosemite.

When I try to resume a VM I get the following errors in this order:

1.  Could not open /dev/vmmon: No such file or directory.

Please make sure that the kernel module 'vmmon' is loaded.

2.  Failed to initialize monitor device.

3.  Cannot find a valid peer process to connect to

Am I fool for thinking I can troubleshoot this, or can I avoid the Fusion 7 purchase (no upgrade available as the initial purchase was Fusion 3)?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

VMware Fusion 5 General Support ended on 08-23-2014 and therefore will not be supported under OS X 10.10 Yosemite.  You can install VMware Fusion 7 in a fully functional free 30 day trial mode in order to get your Virtual Machine back up and running while deciding whether or not you want to then purchase it.  Download VMware Fusion 7.0.1 Trial.

Have a look at Lifecycle Product Matrix and Lifecycle Policies

As far as upgrading, if you have a valid VMware Fusion 5 License Key, you can use it to get upgrade pricing on VMware Fusion 7.
