VMware Fusion 12.2.1, host Monterey 12.2, Guest Windows 11 HE, safely flash usb keyboard firmware?

I have a Keychron K14 keyboard that has both a Win and Mac/iOS mode. The instructions for flashing the keyboard firmware tell you to use the supplied USB cable and ensure you are using the correct mode setting on the keyboard, else it will be non op. My question arrises because I have not been able to successfully flash the keyboard using the MacOS version of the utility, hopefully the Windows version performs better. I would like to attempt flashing the keyboard from a Windows 11 VM on my Mac, so should I set the Keyboard to Windows or Mac mode in this scenario?  I do not know if the Windows VM hands off the USB to the Mac to control, or directly controls it same as a PC would. Thank you.

You can try connecting the keyboard directly to the VM as a USB device, in which case it'd be windows mode.

Flashing firmware through Fusion may or may not work - I've had mixed results.

Keychron is sending me a new motherboard, hopefully with the latest firmware and that will resolve my issue. Thanks for offering your input.
