VMware Fusion 11.5.7: memory leak running Windows 2000 Workstation

VMware Fusion 11.5.7: memory leak running Windows 2000 Workstation

OSX Mojave and Catalina, VMware Fusion 11.5.3 and 11.5.7

Over time Win2K will run out of virtual memory (reporting virtual memory low), forcing a restart .

Even if the Win2K VM is left alone after reboot (ie. no programs or application are started by the user), it will run out of memory.

Work-around: restart "Windows Management Instrumentation Service" and memory utilization goes way down and allows continued operation (see attached screendump)

This Win2K VM was moved from a High Sierra / VMware 8.5.10. On the earlier environment the VM was running normally, but on two MacBook PROs ( 2018 and 2019 models) running Mojave and Catalina respectively, it has the memory leak problem.

Expect a moderator to move your thread to the Fusion area now that I’ve reported it.
