VMWare Tools on Linux won't install

I have a running Ubuntu 6.1 instance. However when I attempt to install the VMWare Tools via the Virtual Machine menu the "VMware Tools" disc mounts, but nothing else.

The file names of the files on the "VMware Tools" menu appear to be actually script code, weird. I can post a screenshot somewhere if needed.

hi scott we have a known issue with mounting and switchin ISO's in Ubuntu and Solaris, once you see the vmware tools image on teh desktop in ubuntu please right click on it and tell it to unmount and then from the toolbar disconnect the cdrom drive and then reconnect it, when the vmwaretools iso comes back you should be able to access it with out issue

Please let me know if this works for you

Thanks

I saw this on CentOS 4.4 (RHEL 4.4 recompiled) in init 1 after the VM crashed.

When I rebooted to X (init 5), the problem went away.
