VMWare Tools always out of date

I'm a long time VMWare Workstation user and have recently switched to using Fusion on a Macbook Pro with Leopard. I installed Fusion 1.1.2 and immediately upgraded to 1.1.3. I then copied 3 VM's onto the Macbook that had been created on another machine (AMD FX 6-bit dual core machine running Windows XP SP2 as host). These VM's were running under VMWare Workstation 6.0.4 and had the latest VMWare Tools installed.

When I start any of these VM's under Fusion I always get a notice that VMWare Tools is out of date. However, when I go to install VMWare Tools, the result is always "a newer version of VMWare Tools is already installed".

Can someone explain what is going on here and if I need to do anything about this discrepancy? Everything seems to run OK so it is not an immeidate problem for me. Just an annoyance!

Happened to me. I uninstalled the VMware Tools, and then I did another install. While the Tools CD was mounted, I ran setup.exe /c, which clears out all VMware registry stuff.

You should be able to run VMware Tools install now.
