Hi,
Is the VMWare SDK useable with VMWare Fusion? If not, consider this a feature request... if so, can someone point me in the right direction?
\- Terry
I was hoping for a Perl API.
I'm thinking about looking to use VMWare for some
automation tasks in various operating systems... and
since I typically use Mac OS X for every day tasks
I'd like to prototype my automation scripts in Mac OS
X.
I was mostly curious if any APIs currently exist, and
how they differ from the Linux/Windows counterparts.
VMware Fusion does not have external APIs at this time. We will consider the possibility for a future release or potentially future Mac products.

What would you like to do? That is, what would you use the SDK for?
Well I am working oin some ideas, and having VIX and Crosstalk (VMCI) would be really useful, Currently not in a position to discuss my ideas, but having a standard mechanism from WS6 --> Fusion would be very useful.

VIX does have a Perl binding, so would help you out.

What is happening with VMCI as I see the kext is present?

VMCI is not tested or supported in VMware Fusion at this time. It is something will we consider for a future release.

VMCI between guests should work - that's what the kext provides. (This is untested, however.) In fact, you can't power on a VMCI-enabled guest without it, and it's really included to make sure that WS6 VMs can run on correctly.
However, the host-side library (and headers, and the rest of the SDK) needed to use VMCI from host applications are not present.
OK thanks.
