VMTools on a ubuntu 10.04 vm, Fusion 4.1.1. MacBook Pro running Lion?

I seelected the option under "Virtual Maching" in he main VMware Fusion task bar (term?) to "Reinstall VMware Tools". A virtual DVD (term?) named "VMware Tools" was mounted. That DVD contains two files:

1. manifest.txt

2. VMwareTools-8.8.1-528969.tar.gz

What am I supposed to do in order to install VMware Tools? I don't recall noticing "tools" being installed when I built the ubuntu vm.

Are they needed? Are they important?

Thanks,

Tim

Jugger27:

Thanks for the url. Reinstall worked (apparently).

Hopefully the reinstall improves the monitor (30" HD Cinema) performance.

(or graphics performance)
