I've just upgraded to Big Sur and installed Vmware Fusion 12 Player over the top of my old Vmware Fusion 11 Pro installation.
I have a Windows 10 VM and initially it ran successfully.
Unfortunately my Mac crashed and now the VM will not boot.
It tells me that:
The disk '/Users/nick/Virtual Machines.localized/Windows 10.vmwarevm/Virtual Disk.vmdk' has one or more internal errors that cannot be fixed.
This is a 100GB file and I only need to retrieve one file from it - a large Outlook PST file of about 30GB. If I can retrieve that, I am happy to set up the VM again from scratch.
I have tried running:
sudo /Applications/VMware\ Fusion.app/Contents/Library/vmware-vdiskmanager -R /Users/nick/Virtual\ Machines.localized/Windows\ 10.vmwarevm/Virtual\ Disk.vmdk
which reports:
The virtual disk, '/Users/nick/Virtual Machines.localized/Windows 10.vmwarevm/Virtual Disk.vmdk', is corrupted and cannot be repaired.
Is there anything else that I can try?
Many thanks,
Nick
