VM slowed down

Hey, for whatever reasons my VM is suddenly after a month of successful deployment slowed down.

Symptoms:

- Mouse clicks delayed

- Whole VM unresponsive for some time, then responsive again

- Everything feels sluggish, slow not like it was before

I tried one of the KB articles:

https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/1027805

But not difference - I also re-installed VM Tools, also no improvement.

Any idea what is going on?

Thanks

Host OS and version?
Guest OS and version?

Fusion version?

Mac specification?

VM specification?

Mac 10.15.7

Fusion 12.0

iMac 2020 Edition - i7, 32 GB Ram

Not sure what you mean with VM specification?

Not sure what you mean with VM specification?

CPU and memory allocation to the VM.

Do you have anti-virus installed in the guest?

Installed any updates on your host OS or the guest OS?

4 processors and 16 GB RAM to the VM

No updates are installed on both host and guest OS.

Yes, antivirus is standard. Was running from day 1.

Do you  happen to use a Fusion drive?  That can cause slow-downs as the OS moves pieces of the virtual disk from the SSD to the spinning disk.  Changing from a split disk to a single file seems to help solve the problem.

Once I set Gaming -> Always optimize mouse for games, the lack is gone.

Any why this suddenly happening? How to fix.
