Hi, All:
I'm running VMWare Fusion (Professional Version 7.1.0 (2314774)) on Yosemite (10.10.2) and whenever I try to switch to Unity mode, get this helpful message:
For best compatibility, shut down the virtual machine, upgrade the virtual hardware compatibility to the latest version, and ensure that VMware Tools are up to date.
I've done the first part, don't understand the second part, and when I tried repairing VMWare Tools and restarting ... that didn't help either.
Any ideas? I really miss Unity mode...
Thanks,
Michael
Hi mprogers,
Your setup has 3 retina displays, could you pls try the solution on the update 5 of this poster VMWare Fusion 7 / 3 displays not supported? to see whether that helps?
If not, pls attach your /Users/jingwen/Library/Logs/VMware Fusion/vmware-vmfusion.log and vmware.log inside your VM bundle. Thx in advance.
BTW, if your guest OS is windows 10, unity may not work as a known bug.
Hi mprogers,
Thx for using Fusion!
About "Upgrade thte virtual hardware compatibility to the latest version", you can update it at VM settings -> Compatibility, latest version is hardware 11, you can click upgrade button to update if you're not up to date.
And if that doesn't help, could you pls let me know what is the OS of your VM? And pls also run the command which can give display information and paste the output here:
system_profiler SPDisplaysDataType
Thanks for willing to help!
I seem to be at version 11, and the information from the system_profiler is as follows:
