Uninstalling VMware 2.0 beta?

I want to uninstall the VMware 2.0 beta, and reinstall VMware 1.1.x. Unfortunately, the software autoupdated on installation, so the "built-in" uninstall is no longer available to me.

What is the best way to get rid of 2.0, and move back to 1.1.x, without having to reinstall Windows and other programs?

Thanks.

Ed

You can download the beta from the vmware.com. On the disk image that is downloaded is the uninstaller.

The resolution problem mentioned elsewhere seems to be less of an issue in VMware Fusion 1.1.x than in the 2.0 beta - that is why I am asking about uninstalling and switching back. Were any changes re: resolution made in the beta?

After uninstalling 2.0, what is one left with? 1.1.x? Nothing? Is the installed virtual machine still usable, or is it gone as well?

Thanks.

Before you uninstall Fusion 2.0 Beta 1 you must also downgrade the Virtual Hardware one each Virtual Machine you created or upgraded to the latest hardware version. (VMware Fusion menu bar > Virtual Machine > Downgrade Virtual Machine...)

If you reference another thread, please provide a link for easy reference.

After uninstalling 2.0, you don't have 1.1.x, 2.0 clobbered it. Uninstalling Fusion does not affect your virtual machines. As Woody says, you may have to downgrade the virtual hardware - do this before uninstalling 2.0. Downgrading Tools can be done afterwards.

I'm not able to find the options to downgrade the virtual hardware, etc.

When I look in the menus of Vmware Fusion, I don't see any downgrade

options. Are they in the uninstaller itself?

Thanks.

Virtual Machine > Downgrade Virtual Machine...

You need to have a powered off (suspended doesn't count) virtual machine selected.

You have to do this before you uninstall Fusion 2.0 Beta 1 and no it's not part of the uninstaller.
