Have a look at and fill in some of the blanks... Like what OS Ver, Fusion Ver. What this an upgrade install of Fusion? Etc...
Have you rebooted the Mac since installing Fusion?
You can try the following command in a Terminal (/Applications/Utilities/Terminal) however even if this works you may still need to uninstall and reinstall Fusion.
sudo "/Library/Application Support/VMware Fusion/boot.sh" --restart

Note: Uninstalling Fusion does not delete the Virtual Machine's as they are stored in a different location.
Note: Make sure you have your Serial Number written down before you unistall.
To uninstall VMware Fusion...
Shutdown, not suspend, any running Virtual Machines.
Close VMware Fusion (VMware Fusion menu > Quit VMware Fusion).
Uninstall VMware Fusion (Execute /Library/Application Support/VMware Fusion/Uninstall VMware Fusion or run the uninstaller from the .dmg you downloaded.).
Delete the following File(s) and or Folder(s).
/Library/Application Support/VMware Fusion
/Library/Receipts/VMware Fusion.pkg
Note: ~ is your Home Folder.
~/Library/Preferences/com.vmware.fusion.plist
~/Library/Preferences/VMware Fusion
Reboot your System.
Install VMware Fusion
