Unable to install VMware 12.0 (free license for personal use) in Mac OS 10.15.7 Catalina

Hi All,

I've MacBook Pro (2012 mid) having MacOS Catalina 10.15.7 with 16GB RAM and 1TB hard disk (upgraded).

Now, I need to install VMware Fusion 12 Player in my laptop for my son's personal use. We've obtained the free license code too.

But, the VMware Fusion 12.2 (Free download is available only for this) is expecting a MacOS 11+. As per the Apple Support, the highest OS version this MacBook Pro can have is 10.15.7 Catalina.

VMWare guide says that VMware Fusion 12 supports the Catalina 10.15. But, I can't install Fusion 12.2 (asks for OS11+) and I don't find Fusion 12.0 which is said to be compatible with Catalina 10.15. The Fusion 11.15.7 Version asks for a different license key which I don't have.

I badly need VMware Fusion 12 installed in my machine at the earliest as my 12 year old son is preparing for the cyber security competition.

The last option is buying a new windows laptop just for this competition. I'm trying to avoid this unnecessary expense.

Kindly suggest. Thanks in advance.

Anticipating an earliest solution.

Kind Regards,

Reshma

Fusion 12.1.2 is the last version to support Catalina. You can download that version and use your free personal use license fey for it.

@Technogeezer  Thank you so much for this.

Can you please give me the link to download this version (12.1.2)? I'm not finding it in the VMWare website.

Which website I should download it from? Is it secure?

Kind Regards,

Reshma

Rather than describing how to navigate the maze that is the VMware download site, I'll try to short-cut it for you.

Use the following URL to navigate to the product binary download

https://customerconnect.vmware.com/downloads/details?downloadGroup=FUS-1224&productId=1040

It will offer by default the 12.2.4 version, but we'll take care of that in a second.

On that page, click on the drop-down next to the text "Select Version". This will expand into the available minor versions of Fusion 12.

Select 12.1.2 and begin your download. You'll be asked for your VMware account credentials (they should be the same ones that you used to sign up for the personal use license), You'll also have to accept VMware terms and conditions.
