Unable to install Big Sur

I am having a terrible time installing Big Sur with Fusion 12 on a Mac host. I tried the suggestions found on this thread and created a bootable disk image and ISO, but when I start the VM using either file the error No operating system found appears. I've ensured that the startup disk is set to the connected CD/DVD and it is loaded with the installer. I'm at a loss. What am I doing wrong?

As suggested in this thread
I was able to create a .dmg from the .app using the script at https://github.com/rtrouton/create_macos_vm_install_dmg
It's working perfectly for me

As I stated in my original post: I followed the suggestions in that thread and still could not install Big Sur. That included making a .dmg from the .app using the Github script.

Hi,

Try downloading Big Sur again.
You might have a corrupt download.

I created the ISO and it worked fine.  Never tried the DMG.

I downloaded the installer again, and still no luck. Very frustrating.
