USB 4G Modem works on MAC but is not seen by VMware Fusion

The Huawei E3276 USB 4G modem is connected and functions well on the Macbook Air 2013 host under OS X 10.8.4. However, VMware Fusion 5.03 does not seem to see the connection as it would see a WLAN or Ethernet connection of the host. How can this be fixed?

do you have a NIC card assigned to your VM,  if this is configured with NAT it should just use what ever device your host machine is using to connect to the internet.

you will not be able to see the physical device in the Guest as there is no virtual hardware components for it.

Hi,

How is configured your network card in your vm settings?

In my case, i use a 3G modem . I am connecting with the modem in my mac, and then i can access to internet with my mac or my VM (my VM has a network card configured with NAT) . You don't need to configure your modem on your VM or configure a second network card.

Regards,

Julien.

Thank you Julien and Tom!

After reading your responses, I simply changed the network settings from "Bridged" to NTA and bingo, it works. I am very grateful, thanks indeed!

Cheers,

Dan
