Trying to make a Mac OS X VM on Mac: "This host supports Intel VT-x, but Intel VT-x is disabled"

I'm running OS X 10.13, and trying to make an OS X 10.13 VM on in, in Fusion v10. When I start my new machine, it says "This host supports Intel VT-x, but Intel VT-x is disabled" and won't start it up. I know this machine can run OS X 10.13 because that's what the host is running.  What am I doing wrong, why won't VMWare let it start up?

Hi,

Most likely it is a setting for your VM that you have to disable.

With the VM shut down (not suspended) go to menu -> Virtual machine -> Settings -> Processors & Memory

-> open "Advanced options"

Uncheck the checkbox for "Enable hypervisor applications in this virtual machine"

Possibly also uncheck

"Enable IOMMU in this virtual machine" (Can't recall if that was available in Fusion 10 already)

After that the VM should boot.
