Using Fusion 12, and want to upgrade my Windows 10 virtual machine to Windows 11. I am trying to add the TPM to my virtual machine and am getting the following message "The trusted platform module can only be added to virtual machine using UEFI firmware."
What do I need to do to install this firmware?
Hi,
This means that your Windows 10 is currently using BIOS to boot from and you'll have to switch it over to UEFI. This also means that your disk is using MBR and not GPT and you'll have to switch that too.
However.. just changing that makes your VM unbootable. So it's not a simple "change and go" type of thing.
Here's an article outlining the steps you have to do in the guest OS: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-convert-mbr-disk-gpt-move-bios-uefi-windows-10
edit: Forgot to say, but if you go and do anything like that, then make a good backup of your VM first!
