I resumed WinXP VM 1 and did a restart after installing Security Essentials, then suspended it and resumed WinXP VM 2. The toolbar menu now says my VM is suspended, and in fact seems to be hooked to VM 1. The Virtual Machine Library correctly shows that VM 2 is running.
