TMobile WebConnect (for a TMobile USB 3G Modem) checks for XP2 or later when installing on Windows XP. This check fails on my Fusion XP3 Fusion 3.0.1 guest machine. Is this an issue with Fusion or an issue with WebConnect?
That would most likely be a webconnect issue. Is there a newer version of Webconnect that you can download?
Just a thought, do you have the modem connected to the virtual machine? (In the Virtual Machine, USB devices menu. If it's connected, the menu will say "Disconnect ".) I'm just thinking that the "fail" might be due to the installer not detecting the modem.
The USB modem is connected to the XP guest. I'm using the latest version of Webconnect.
I'm attempting to report this issue to T-Mobile but they don't have the faintest idea what I'm talking about since I can't seem to reach the actual folks responsible for this software.
Whatever simplistic check they have incorporated to verify 'SP2 or later' is getting confused when running in a Fusion XP guest. I've installed XP SP3 so I know that the guest is definitely 'SP2 or later'.
I was hoping there might be some way to use VMware tools to set whatever its looking for. I could forward the Webconnect Windows download if that would be of any help.

Even if there was such a tool (and there isn't), it'd have to know what their program is looking for in order to report the "right" value
There's not much to do other than get in contact with their developers/support.
System Info shows that what I thought was SP3 is actually SP1. Unfortunately, I need the modem to download SP2 ...
So the issue isn't with WebConnect after all.

Ah, good to know. Why do you need the modem to download SP2 (and why SP2, why not just jump to SP3)?

Alternatively, you can order the service pack on a physical CD. Or if you can use some other machine to download it, (i.e.: a friend's house) then you can download the service pack as an executable. Click on the link that say Download and deploy Windows XP SP3 to multiple computers. Or download as an ISO.
