I had this problem with Fusion 2.0.1 but by the time I got to Fusion 2.0.6 it happened rarely if ever. Now that I upgraded to 3.0 it happens all the time.
I run my Windows XP Pro SP 3 VM and both the Mac (running Mac OS 10.5.8) and the VM perform fine. Then I suspend the VM and exit VMware Fusion and the system slows to an unusable crawl. Activity Monitor does not show any excess CPU, Disk, or Network usage, but simple things like opening a directory picker to save a file take painfully long, and logging out and shutting down take so long that I have to give up and hard power off.
Anyone have a solution or workaround? Until then, I'm going back to Fusion 2.0.6.
