I have both a "real" Solaris 11.4 VM and an Illumos-based VM (Open Indiana) that were both working under Fusion 12.1. Under 12.2, they both hang during boot. Changing the Troubleshooting log to "Hang/Crash" didn't seem to help too much. Switching the disks from NVMe to LSI SAS didn't help. I don't see anything related in the Known Issues in the Release Notes.
Is anybody else seeing this?
Okay, I found a partial workaround. Setting vCPUs to 1 seems to work, so it must be something that has changed in Fusion when SMP is used (APIC?).
Yes, we've seen it too. Any clues about what might have broken this?
If you downgrade back to 12.1, it works. So it's definitely a regression in 12.2 that VMware doesn't seem to be in a hurry to correct :(.
Solaris 11 x64 is not listed as a supported guest operating system for Fusion (any version), so maybe that’s why VMware hasnt fixed anything.
