Screen size

After installing Windows 98 and the one program I need to run, the screen size is about 5 x 7 inches and I don't see how to enlarge it.

VMware tools doesn't seem to help.

Are you running Windows 98 or Windows 98 SE? Per the Guest OS Guide, Fusion only supports the SE version.

I haven't tried Win98, but according to in , you need 98SE, not 98.

Where do I go to do this editing:

Fit Full Screen

When you switch to fullscreen mode in a guest without tools installed

or a guest which changes the screen resolution, you might notice

black borders around the screen since the host resolution remains the

same. You can tell Fusion to scale the guest to the host's resolution

by editing /Users/yournamehere/Library/Preferences/VMware Fusion/

preferences to include the line

pref.autoFitFullScreen = "fitHostToGuest"

It tells you right in what you quoted! "/Users/yournamehere/Library/Preferences/VMware Fusion/preferences"

Open the preferences file in the following folder /Users/yournamehere/Library/Preferences/VMware Fusion/ and add

pref.autoFitFullScreen = "fitHostToGuest" to it.

by editing /Users/yournamehere/Library/Preferences/VMware Fusion/preferences to include the line

However, this won't do what you want (increased resolution/color depth), it just stretches the guest picture in fullscreen mode.

Great, that's exactly what I want to do (my eyesight is not to good).

What do I open to do that editing? Keep in mind that I'm an end user

and not a programmer.

Thanks!

Thanks, but where do I find the folder

/Users/yournamehere/Library/Preferences/VMware Fusion/preferences

I use to be able to do these things back with system 9 and earlier.

I don't see "Users" anywhere in Tiger (although I'm sure it's there).

I only need a hint!

I only need a hint!

Users in in the root of your hard disk! Use Finder

yournamehere represents your Home Folder...

Edit: Try this...

On the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder and enter "~/Library/Preferences/VMware Fusion/" without the quotes then click the GO button.

You should then see the preferences file.

WoodyZ's already given you instructions how to get to the file, so I won't repeat them. This is a plain text file, so you can use your text editor of choice to play with it. If it doesn't exist, create it (and be sure not to name it preferences.txt or something).
