Screen resolution resets after each reboot of the guest Ubuntu

Host OS: OS X v10.8.2

Fusion v5.0.2 (900491)

Guest OS: Ubuntu (x86) 12.04 LTS

Latest VMware tools installed.

I'm trying to change resolution of the Fusion window with the guest OS. After the first resize the window does not change its own size, subsequent changes are ok but after the VM reboot the windows size resets to its defaults.

Also, I can't maximize the window to the full screen mode with the monitor's native resolution (2560x1440), it seems that current windows resolution just expanded to the fullscreen.

And I have no such issues with the Win8Pro VM.

This may not make any sense, but it does help in certain cases.

Try this

log into the vm .

change the view mode to full screen.

set the screen resolution to desired set within the vm

Reboot the vm

check the resolution.

Cheers! Avanish

Thank you, it helps for the fullscreen mode, but doesn't change anything for the windowed mode.

try and see if this is unselected, if not unselect it.  this solved the issue for me
