Running a Big Sur guest on a Catalina host

I am testing macOS 11 as a guest before I upgrade my MacBook Pro. I was unable to build a Big Sur guest until the Fusion 12.1 upgrade, then I was able to use the downloaded "Install macOS Big Sur.app" for the guest build.

The guest works OK but sometimes seems sluggish or frozen. Has anyone else run this Catalina host/Big Sur guest config and found issues?

Hi,

That was how I tested Big Sur at first as well, during the beta's.

Didn't see any freezes myself.
This might happen if you assign too much resources to the guest.

Eg. more than 2 vCPU's or more than half the RAM.
There can be other reasons as well of course, but that's the most common issue.

Yes,

I am seeing the freezes once in a while too. Then everything works as normal after that.

My current problem is the Software update in Big Sur is not working. "Can't establish a secure connection to the Apple Software Update server."

Network works for other things though.

Just starting to troubleshoot both issues. If anyone has suggestions or updates please post.
