Running Fusion on a Mac, Color problems

Hi, I am running Fusion on a macbook. Trying to run windows 95, got it installed properly and all that, but the only options for colors is 16, 256, 32bit.

I have read that fusion works best under the same color depth as the host machine, but if I want to use an application from that era that uses 256 colors or 16 bit, it wont run as the vmware screen just goes black. Even if I try to manually set it at 256 colors, all I will get is a black screen, and will be unable to do anything until a couple of restarts to the VM.

Will work on 16 colors and 32bit, but not at 256 colors, and 16bit not an option. I really only need 256 colors.

Is there any solutions to this problem? Am I making a mistake somewhere, or is VMware kind of useless for running the old OSes, with programs that specify the amount of colors.

And yes I am running the supplied drivers for video, that is how I have 32bit.
