Revert to old USB behaviour?

I find the new Fusion 3.x USB plugin behaviour highly annoying (I have several VMs and each one asks me what I want when I plug in a device that it hasn't seen before). Is there any way to get the old behaviour back (ie: configure a default that doesn't cause a popup every time a "new" device is plugged in)?

Hello,

I remembered reading about this during the beta stages of version 3.1.

For your convenience I've dug up the details on that.

In 3.1 RC there's a new config value to set the default behavior. There's an entry in the help for "USB Connection Dialog Disappears Before Connection Can Be Made" that goes into more detail, but the options are:

usb.generic.pluginAction = "guest" Each time you plug in an unrecognized USB device, it connects to the virtual machine.

usb.generic.pluginAction = "host" Each time you plug in an unrecognized USB device, it connects to the Mac.

usb.generic.pluginAction = "ask" This is the default action.

You can put this (and many other vmx settings) in the "~/Library/Preferences/VMware Fusion/config" file and it will be used as a default.

hope this helps,
